Soundtracks for Imaginary Movies

In 1995 U2 released the album ‘Original Soundtracks 1’. Since Brian Eno was heavily involved, and the sound was unusually experimental, the album was released under the pseudonym ‘Passengers’. The idea behind it is very cool: a collection of soundtracks for (mostly) imaginary movies. The booklet contains short descriptions of the plot of every movie. Unfortunately there were no accompanying movie posters.

For example this is the plot of the movie ‘An Ordinary Day’ by Lurlene Clewman (an anagram of drummer Lawrence (Larry) Mullen):

Some of the songs were written for real movies, like ‘Your Blue Room’:

The plot of the movie ‘Slug’ made by the German director Peter von Heineken (a word play on the name of the manager of U2 Paul McGuinness):

Of course other artists had the same idea, here is a list.

BTW Am I the only one who thinks that the U2 song ‘Beautiful Day’ remarkably resembles ‘Good Day Sunshine’ by The Beatles?

The Beatles 1964 Live - I Saw Her Standing There

After spending the whole of February writing and recording music for the FAWM challenge (especially the last days have been hectic), I am now consumed with listening to other contributors. Since I can't really think of a new post I just wanna show this oldie but goldie.

Who said The Beatles in the first half of the 1960s didn't rock, Ringo couldn't drum and their live recordings sound like crap?

Found on Kitty Packard Pictorial, who wrote the excellent post Why The Beatles 1964 Washington DC Concert Kick Ass.
